Welker Launches Molecular Sieve Probes

New Sample Probes Highlight Company’s Dedication to Manufacturing Devices to Improve the Oil and Energy Industry

Sugar Land, Texas – 30 June 2022 – To better support the increasing production of natural gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG), Welker, Inc. today announces the launch of its Molecular Sieve Probes. Designed for installation in dehydration units (DHU) or mercury removal units (MRU) at natural gas and LNG processing plants, these probes sample natural gas from the full width of the dryer bed and connect to downstream analyzers to monitor molecular sieve deactivation.

Optimizing plant performance and adhering to product specifications has always been of great economic importance to producers. And their economic importance to producers will likely increase, as the U.S. Energy Information Administration predicted in its Annual Energy Outlook for 2022 that natural gas production will grow almost 24% through 2050. Because DHUs and MRUs are critical to both overall plant performance and product quality, sampling gas in molecular sieve beds to monitor for breakthrough of water or mercury can help minimize or eliminate high maintenance costs and unplanned shutdown.

“Several of our molecular sieve probes have been installed in LNG trains at a large LNG hub,” said Tracy Peebles, Welker’s Vice President of Engineering. “Given their success in the field, we wanted to launch them as an official product offering to better support natural gas producers as they work to meet the increasing demand for gas and LNG.”
