Blend Composite Sampling

Accurate composite sampling of
liquid hydrocarbon blends
is critical for custody transfer,
quality control,
regulatory compliance,
and process optimization.

Welker’s turnkey Blend Composite Sampling systems are engineered to deliver reliable, representative samples by capturing a true cross-section of product from the head, middle, and tail of the blend stream. Our integrated approach combines precision sampling hardware, rugged containment, and industry-proven containers — all on a compact skid for streamlined installation and operation.

How Blend Composite Sampling Works

To ensure a representative blend sample, it’s essential to collect fluid across the entire batch — from the head (15%), middle (50%), and tail (85%). Welker systems are designed to automate this process, gathering proportional samples over time and combining them into a single composite sample that reflects the full variability of the blend.

Key Components of the Welker Blend Composite Sampling System

From sample extraction to containment, Welker’s refined products line covers every step of the sampling process.

Each system is engineered for precision, reliability, and long-term performance in fuel applications such as gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and biofuels.

inFlow™ Lite Sampler
Composite Sample

The inFlow™ Lite pump is the heart of the composite sampling system. Engineered to create a compact, isokinetic fast loop, it continually extracts representative volumes of liquid hydrocarbon blends directly from the pipeline. Its inline design and rugged construction support long-term, low-maintenance service for a wide range of refined liquids.

inLoop™ RFP
Spot Sample

For precision spot sampling — capturing discrete grabs from the head, middle, or tail of the batch — the inLoop™ RFP bypass sampler delivers consistent, proportional samples. It integrates seamlessly with the composite system and is ideal for custody transfer verification or regulatory sampling points.

Draw-Off Panel

A dedicated draw-off panel allows field operators to conveniently extract spot samples (head, middle, tail) or access specific sampling points without interrupting the composite loop. This flexibility supports quality checks as well as process audits.

Sample Containers That Maintain Integrity

Once collected, preserving sample integrity from field to laboratory is paramount. Welker offers purpose-built containers to achieve this:

LS-14 Composite Container

A large-capacity, constant pressure system that collects, mixes, and maintains composite samples ready for analysis. Its internal mixer and pressure control help retain blend homogeneity throughout handling and transport.

CP-2 Constant Pressure Cylinder

Designed for safe, pipeline-condition sample collection and transport, the CP-2 maintains pressure and prevents phase change prior to analysis.

Boston Round Bottles

For discrete spot samples captured through the draw-off panel, Boston Round bottles are available as atmospheric containers. These amber glass bottles are commonly used for head, middle, and tail spot samples destined for laboratory testing.

Skid-Mounted, Turnkey Solution

Welker’s composite sampling solutions are delivered as complete skid-mounted packages, minimizing field assembly and civil work. Each skid is factory-configured to your blend application and includes all sampling hardware, piping, valves, and containers — ready to bolt in and commission. Whether for terminal tanks, pipeline blend headers, or refinery sampling points, this integrated approach saves time, reduces error potential, and ensures repeatable, representative results across batches.
